Cattle sales rise at Pugu Market

 Earnings generated from the cattle sale at the Pugu Auction market increased to 2.45bn/- last week from 2.36bn/ of the previous period.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the daily cattle sales increased to 3,794 in the week under review from 3,682 of the other week, which is 3 per cent rise.
 
With the exception of female cattle grade two whose price remained unchanged at 700,000/-as the previous session. Prices for mature cattle grade three increased to 470,000/- from 450,000/- of the week before, equivalent to 4.8 per cent rise.
 
The prices for mature male cattle grade two jumped to 811,000/- from 800,000/- of the preceding week, which is 3.2 per cent fall.
 
The prices for male cattle grade three dropped to 620,000/- from 620,000/- of the previous week which is equivalent to 3.2 per cent increase.
 
In the meantime, the turnover generated from the goats sale has increased to 148.56m/- from 137.06m/- of the other period. According to the report, the average sales per market have increased to 1,568 compared to 1,246 which is equivalent to 25.8 per cent change.
 
The prices for mature goats grade two declined slightly to 92,000 from 105,000/- which is equivalent to 12.3 per cent fall, while the prices for female goats grade three declined to 75,000/- from 90,000/-of the other session, equal to 16.7 per cent change.
 
The prices for mature male goats grade two fell to 120,000/- from 135,000/-, a 11.1 per cent change while the prices for male goat grade three declined to 92,000/- from 110,000/- of the other market, equivalent to 16 per cent.
 
Similarly, the earnings generated from the sheep auction last week increased to 184.45m/- from 152.39m/-.The average sales per market for sheep during the week 2,380 from 1,960 which is equivalent to 21.4per cent change.
 
The prices for mature sheep grade two increased to 76,000/- from 73,000/- of the previous market, which is 4.1 per cent change while the prices for female sheep grade three declined by 3.6 per cent to 53,000/- from 55,000/-.
 
The prices for mature sheep grade remained unchanged at100,000/- as in the previous market while the prices for male sheep grade three declined to 81,000/- from 83,000/- of the other week, which is 2.4 per cent change.
